What is the Catalog Health Score?
The StoreClean Catalog Health Score is a deterministic metric from 0 to 100 representing the overall hygiene, completeness, and search-readiness of your Shopify store catalog. It is not an arbitrary number; it is calculated directly from verifiable attributes across your entire product inventory.
The Six Health Dimensions
StoreClean measures catalog quality across six balanced categories:
- Content: Presence and uniqueness of product descriptions and titles.
- SEO: Search engine meta titles, meta descriptions, character limits, and ALT text.
- Images: Coverage of primary product imagery and accessibility attributes.
- Variants: SKU uniqueness, barcode accuracy, and variant integrity.
- Data Quality: Absence of excessive whitespaces, broken formatting, or duplicate handles.
- Organization: Proper vendor assignment and Shopify product taxonomy types.
Issue Severity & Weighting
Issues are grouped into three priority tiers:
- High Priority: Critical items such as missing primary images, duplicate SKUs, duplicate barcodes, and missing titles.
- Medium Priority: SEO meta tags missing or too long/short, missing vendor, and duplicate descriptions.
- Low Priority: Excessive whitespace, missing product types, and minor formatting discrepancies.
How Fixing Issues Improves Health
As you apply safe fixes, your score recalculates immediately. Resolving high-priority variant and SEO issues produces the fastest improvements to catalog hygiene.
