1. Installation & Permissions

StoreClean is an embedded Shopify app designed to run natively within your Shopify Admin. To install StoreClean:

Navigate to the Shopify App Store listing for StoreClean.
Click Install App.
Review the requested product permissions. StoreClean requests read and write access to your product catalog to scan attributes, detect formatting gaps, and apply supported fixes upon your confirmation.
Click Install to complete the setup.

Privacy Note: StoreClean only accesses product catalog data necessary for auditing and safe fixes. Customer data, orders, and payment records are never accessed or stored.

2. Opening StoreClean in Shopify Admin

Once installed, open your Shopify Admin and find StoreClean in your Apps menu. You can pin StoreClean to your sidebar navigation for quick access anytime.

3. Running Your First Scan

When you first load StoreClean, click Run Catalog Scan. StoreClean’s background processing engine will evaluate your products against the 6 core dimensions:

Content: Descriptions, titles, character minimums, and duplicate content.
SEO: Page titles, meta descriptions, length constraints, duplicate SEO tags, and missing image ALT text.
Images: Products with missing imagery and alt text coverage.
Variants: SKU presence, duplicate SKUs, duplicate barcodes, and handle integrity.
Data Quality: Whitespace anomalies and duplicate handles.
Organization: Vendor designations and product taxonomy types.

4. Reviewing Catalog Health

Your initial scan generates a Catalog Health Score (0–100) along with dimension-by-dimension breakdowns. Scores above 85 indicate a well-structured catalog, while lower scores highlight areas where fixes will deliver immediate search and buyer experience improvements.

5. Recommended Next Steps

Proceed to review high-priority issues or generate AI-assisted suggestions for empty meta tags. You can review every proposed fix before it touches your live Shopify store.
